all about me.... day twenty-eight!

all about me

Day 28 – your hopes, dreams, plans for the next 365 days

i feel like i have been so busy and running around like crazy the last month in preparation of the holidays {along with the girls being out of school!!} that i haven't had time to sit down and actually conjur up some simple resolutions for the next year.  i guess there's no better time than right now to jot down a few.... and hope that my faithful blogging friends will hold me accountable! *wink*

  • sew.... sew more! since finding a project that worked for me, i have been passionate {perhaps over-zealous?} about finding more projects to try my hand at.  i purchased a highly recommended sewing book that i am currently devouring cover to cover {more to come on this book later!}.  i hope that by spring, i'll be making some fun, flouncy skirts for amelia and i to twirl around in!
  • photograph.... next month i'll be purchasing a new camera!!!! i'm so so so excited for this.  since realizing the absolute joy of blogging almost six months ago, i have drooled over gorgeous pictures on other blogs {like here, here and here} and have so desperately wanted to capture higher quality pictures of amelia.  not to mention that i've been a self-proclaimed crafter my entire life, and photography is such an art.... it seems only natural that i advance from my current nikon point and shoot to a digital SLR camera, the canon rebel!  i've been researching, memorizing and window shopping every store with cameras and seriously can not wait to try it out.  i hope to bring my Marine Parents readers a fabulous year of photography in 2011.... learning as i go!  how fun would it be to have a series on learning to photograph from a true novice, rather than a professional.  would you care to learn with me?
  • love deeper.... i honestly can not tell you how much i love my husband and daughter.  simply telling you that they are my whole world is a significant understatement!  each day, i think to myself, "how can i love them anymore than i do right now...." and then the next day rolls around and my love has grown ten-fold!  about a week ago, i posted that i was setting a "cut-off" time for myself with blogging to help me sleep better at night {to settle my mind, rather} and i have been fairly ademant about this mid-december resolution.  i would like to fully engage myself in shutting down electronically at an early hour every day in 2011 and spend some quality time with my family.... loving, playing, giving sweet kisses {even if they are a toddler's open-mouthed, slobbery kisses!}.  i don't want to miss my daughter's tender years by being behind the camera and the computer screen sharing it with you {so sorry!}.... i want to LIVE those years with her!  but don't worry - i'll be blogging my little heart out during the day! *wink*
  • visit.... this year was a whirlwind of events! caleb came home from iraq for his last tour there, we had our child in silverton, oregon with family all around and then drove cross-country three days later.  caleb's brother was able to come visit us this thanksgiving, but other than that isolated visit we have not seen family since amelia was such a tiny newborn.  this coming year, i would like to see our family more! we have friends that live in many different states, as well, and i would love for them to see amelia again {or for the first time!}.  being a part of the military definitely takes it's toll on extended family visitations, but i know our bond with them is strong and we can endure the separation as long as need be.... i am thankful for the internet and phone calls to keep us close in heart!
what are your resolutions and plans for the coming year?  i'd love to find out what is on your heart and in your mind - should i be holding you accountable for anything?  tell me tell me!
