i told my friend marah today that i feel like i am being dragged around by harris teeter triples rumors.... i know it sounds dramatic but my pantry and freezer are so bare, and for the past two weekends that caleb has come home to visit, he has literally scrounged to find something to eat. that poor man, he has a cavernous hole of a stomach.
it was all but promised last week, that harris teeter would be TRIPLING coupons under 99cents starting 7/21.... so i patiently and meticulously clipped, organized and yes, even made a word document of all my coupons worthy of being tripled. i was probably going to have to buy a deep freeze and stick it in the corner of our master bedroom. (i actually approached caleb with this idea, it was immediately shot down. *sigh*) so wednesday morning came and i am refreshing southern savers every 3 minutes until she makes her post confirming triples before i drive the full hour to shop my little couponing heart out. well, she posted.... triples DENIED!
what's a girl to do?! i pouted. and then i printed some coupons and felt better.
so i've been keeping my fingers crossed for triples or even super doubles (anything, please!) starting 7/28. well, hot coupon world definitely confirmed it.... nothing. no triples. no super doubles. my half-heart has hit the floor. caleb told me today there HAS to be food when he gets back.... he actually said we would go shopping when he got back, and i know that if he goes with me, there is no way i could coupon effectively.... i wouldn't even be able to keep up with what gets tossed in the buggy, so, no way mister. i have to shop before he gets home!
as a consolation, there are rumors (why do i keep giving in to these???) that there are some pretty awesome b1g1 and b2g3 (that's right, folks... buy two get three) deals this upcoming week at HT, so hopefully i can stock up on some of that liquid manna from heaven.... i mean coca-cola classic.
now, yet another rumor awaits us.... supposedly the first week in august is one of the slowest weeks for grocery stores because of the tax free weekends that encompass everything else that families with school age children need to buy. so grocers tend to put out great sales to entice shoppers to come in with cash in hand. well, entice me, harris teeter... please do. because i am so.ready.to.shop.
