for the last month or so, i've been a very bitter and angry blogger. especially towards one other blogger that i had considered a personal friend. i absolutely do not want to rehash things that happened there, but our friendship was very ugly in the end and came to an abrupt stop. as much as i have wanted to move on, it still eats away at me and little things bother me more than they should.... and by little, i mean minuscule, insignificant things.
when i saw this pledge to become a kind hearted blogger, i realized that i needed to pull myself out of the past and move on.... really move on, not just say i was. so i did what any sane blogger would do -- i set up parental controls on my own computer. i actually blocked myself from viewing certain blogs and sites that bring me down, that hurt my feelings, that impair my better judgement.
i mean, you've done that too, right? ok good.
one of my favorite bloggers said something the other day that hit me hard - she said to take a look at your twitter profile, would you follow you if you saw what was there? i think that applies to everything - our twitter, our emails, our blog posts. i know i've been on my soapbox all too often lately, and i really want you to feel like you are coming to sit with a friend and chat when you read my blog each day. so in an effort to really move forward, i completely intend to be more kind hearted, passionate and caring, sensitive to others and their situations while still maintaining my own opinions {in a less soapbox-ey manner!}. i want this blog to be a friendly community, and it starts with me.
i'm alot happier and excited for some really fun changes coming to the blog. i wish i could hurry these changes up -- make them get here faster so i can tell you all about them!! but just know, i have big plans in the works *wink*
take the kind hearted blogger pledge with me.... find out more here.

great idea!
ReplyDeletei took the pledge, i wonder if you found it on my blog? lol
ReplyDeletei loved the idea of this, because i have read some of my old blogs, especially the one i started at the beginning of my husband's deployment, and i was awful! i liked with this, you can still vent and rant, but it reminds you to be mindful of others and to try and keep your blog positive!
I think that's great! I know when I first started blogging I had a hard time and got offended a couple of times. But then I made a choice to not be offended anymore and to try to do my best to not offend. I've never had a problem since.
