harris teeter is an east coast grocery shopping chain with 192 retail stores. they offer a variety of common household goods, groceries and toiletries. as do most stores, harris teeter offers a free loyalty card, called vic, that you can sign up for online or in the store. this card allows you access to the best deals and prices, as well as automatic entry into sweepstakes and special promotions the store offers.
once you are signed up with the vic program, you can add your email address for the e-vic program. the e-vic program sends weekly personalized emails tailored to your specific shopping preferences. you also will be able to purchase the special e-vic item of the week, which varies each week, and get additional e-vic member only discounts.
the best aspect of harris teeter, however, is DOUBLE COUPONS every day!!! that's right! if you are a vic card holder, you will automatically have your first 20 coupons (up to 99cents) doubled every single day! this is a great deal to really make your coupons work for you, especially on lower cost items. if purchasing multiples of an identical item, harris teeter will only double the first three coupons presented.
once every couple of months, harris teeter will also offer a week of triples or super doubles. triples is exactly what it sounds like: coupons are tripled in value (up to 99cents) so essentially you can get up to $2.97 off! wow! if you were purchasing a box of Wheat Thins (for example) your item would be totally FREE with overage! i love being paid to shop!! on triples week, i would suggest going as often as you can, so you can use 20 coupons each day and really build up on your pantry and freezer staples.
super doubles is also a really great way to stockpile. this week, the store will double your first 20 coupons up to and including $1.98. this would mean that you could save up to $3.96 on any single item!
these deals run fairly often, so if you are getting low in your stockpile, try to hold out until one of these sales comes up, and then stock up so you make it until the next sale! there are always rumors of triples or super doubles and you hold your breath waiting to get confirmation. sometimes you can get lucky and a favorite cashier will let you in on the secret, but always verify with the weekly ad before you get to the register.
harris teeter runs alot of really great BOGO (buy one get one) sales. they even run B2G3 sales on coca-cola products nearly every week!!!! for couponing with BOGO sales, each item actually rings up half price, rather than one item ringing up at full price and the second ringing in at zero. this means you can just buy one product if you want, and still get it at half price. however, if you are buying two of the same product on a BOGO sale, you can only use one coupon, even though you are buying two items.
internet printable coupons are accepted as long as they scan. IP coupons have come a long way from when they first came out, so the odds of a legitimate coupon not scanning are slim. however, harris teeter does not accept internet printable coupons for free items.
if a sale item is out of stock, don't hesitate to ask for a raincheck! harris teeter rainchecks do not expire and you can ask for up to three rainchecks per out-of-stock item. make sure you keep your rainchecks in a safe place so you have easy access to them when you find a coupon to make a sweet deal!
be sure to check out harris teeter's coupon policy. i advise printing it and always carrying it with you in case you need it. happy shopping!
